NRA CERTIFIED BASIC PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME

The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”  It is this constitutional right that allows all homeowners to protect themselves through the use of any means necessary within their home, including firearms.

DeLisle Associates LTD is offering this NRA certified Basic Personal Protection In the Home cource which is necessary to apply for your Michigan Concealed Pistol License. The course goal is to develop in the student the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgu for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen's right to self-defense. This training course is approved by the National Rifle Association (NRA) and contains the following components to be presented during the course:

• Introduction to Defensive Shooting
• Fundamentals of handgun shooting
• Basic Defensive Handgun Skills
• Working Knowledge of Handguns and Ammunition
• Firearms and the Law: Possession, Ownership, and the Use of Deadly Force
• Strategies for Home Safety and Responding fo a Violent Confrontation
• Selecting a Handgun for Self-Defense
• Sport Shooting Activities and Training Opportunities

Additional information includes:

• Potential Civil Liability Actions That an Individual May be Subject to Subsequent to a Defensive Encounter
• Safe Storage of a Handguns
• Proper Conduct When Stopped by a Law Enforcement Officer
• Handgun Safety And Firing Proficiency

Instructors utilized by DeLisle for this course are properly certified by the NRA. This course contains at minimum, five (5) hours of instruction in a professional classroom with an additional three (3) hours of range time that requires each student to fire a minimum of 30 rounds of ammunition. Students are expected to already be familiar with handling firearms safely and accurately. If you have not had formal handgun instruction before or it has been a long time since you have shot in a structured environment, we strongly recommend that you first complete our First Steps Pistols course or arrange for a private lesson before attending this course. If you do not have your own firearm in a suitable personal defense caliber (.380 or larger), we have several models available at the range to rent.

• Firearm (no single-action revolvers)
• Approximately 100 rounds of ammunition
• Hearing protection
• Eye protection
• Notepad and pen

• Concealed pistol license application for your county

A $50.00 deposit required to reserve your spot. Full payment must be made on or before class.
